Is Python Pandas More Fundamental Than SQL?

I'm making a lateral transition between the extremely related and similar technologies of SQL and Python Pandas, where SQL is part of the very fabric of tech in more a deep and fundamental way than even Python. So then why is it that I'm taking up data-manipulation in Python to actually broaden the data-projects I can take on and tackle? It's because SQL has so much that has to be set-up just-so in order to work, and each just-so instance has its own vendor-specific nuances and is not very suitable to quick one-off projects—in the way that Python Pandas is very suitable. And because Pandas simply plays off of Python's API, which is becoming forever more fundamental to tech (though it has a long catch-up game with SQL), it will likely remain useful for your entire life and career.
